Here, I am showing you the raw, untouched, unedited images that I do not normally display. Ever. You might as well see the work that goes into creating the photographs that you normally see. You will also see what I carry around in my camera bag as well as what I edit with. When I leave the house with my equipment, my clothes are clean and I look semiprofessional. When I come home, I am covered in grass stains, sometimes mud, lots of drool, and, in the summer, itchy mosquito bites. It is totally worth it!
Safety First!
People often tell me when booking a session that their pet cannot be trusted on a leash, so they are unsure how the session will go. I tell them to fear not! When I take pictures in a location, leashes stay ON unless you trust your dog 200%!! I cannot stress that enough. When I am editing the pictures, it is simple for me to make that leash disappear! Poof!
Happy Helpers!
This goat is just one of a few "behind the scenes" assistants that helped me photograph an armful of squishy puppies on location in March of 2021. She only chewed on my camera strap once and stole my duck call twice. On each session, I can always count on loads of four-legged helpers to get the job done, like Abby the goat!
Candid Photos Make the Best Photos
I think the candid photos make the best photos to hang on the wall. Don't get me wrong, I love the images of the dogs and cats looking staring into my soul, but every now and then the photos in between make the favorites list. Take Tucker for example. Isn't he adorable sticking his cute little tongue out at the camera?
Photoshop is my Best Friend
See these before and after pictures? With a little Photoshop magic, I am able to create the photo I envision from the beginning.
My Workstation
This is my colorful, controlled chaos. This is where all of the editing and "Photoshopping" happens. I use a Dell Precision, one 22" monitor, and one 24" monitor.
